Pepsi IPL 2014


The IPL season of 2014 , IPL 7 or Pepsi IPL 2014, will be the seventh season of the IPL. The Mumbai Indians will be the defending champions, which won the 2013 season after beating Chennai Super Kings in the Final. Chennai Super King who played in ipl final 5 times, in which won 2 and runner-up in other 3. There will be eight teams this season, one more than 2013 after the withdrawal of the Pune Warriors India. There is a possibility for this season to be held outside of the country to avoid adding to the existing security demands for the 2014 Lok Sabha Elections in India should its dates overlap with the tournament dates. A decision will be made after the announcement of the dates of the elections. 
The players auction for will take place on 12 February, and if necessary, 13 February 2014. Unlike previous seasons, this time the auction will be in Indian Rupees rather than United States dollars. The auction will be held in Bangalore.




Player auction

On 24 December 2013, the Governing Council IPL finalized the Player Regulations for the 2014 season. All teams will be allowed to retain a maximum of five players (at most four Indian capped players) and the rest of the players will go into the auction pool. Retention of players would reduce the teams' salary cap by a fixed amount, regardless of the players' actual salaries. Each team has a starting salary cap of 60 crore.


New Rules

This season's auction will see the introduction of several new rules. First, all player fees will be denominated in Indian rupees but overseas players may choose to be paid in another currency. Second is the "rights to match", which allows teams to purchase a player from their 2013 squad in the auction by matching the highest bid. The number of "rights to match" depends on the amount of players the team retained. Third, the players' salaries will not include their fees for participation in the Champions League Twenty20. Teams who qualify will pay each player who represents them an additional 10% of his IPL fee. Previously, players who qualified for the CLT20 with their IPL team had to forfeit 20% of their IPL salary to represent another team.
On January 27, 2014 BCCI had released a list of capped players to all the franchises which will play in IPL 2014 (Season 7). This list has a total of 233 players from from 10 countries.The highest base price is Rs 2 crore and the lowest base is Rs 30 lakhs.
This list of 233 capped players has 46 players from India and Australia each, followed by 39 from Sri Lanka. 29 from West Indies, 28 from South Africa, 18 from New Zealand, 11 from England, 8 from Zimbabwe, 7 from Bangladesh and 1 from Netherlands. 
Player auctions for IPL 2014 will take place on 12th and 13th February in Bangalore.
